Photo Housekeeper Support
We want Photo Housekeeper to be simple, safe and easy to use.
Getting Started
Before using Photo Housekeeper for the first time, allow it Full Access to Apple Photos when macOS asks for permission.
For a large Photos library, we recommend working with one album, year or date range at a time.
Finding Similar Photographs
Photo Housekeeper offers three similarity settings:
- Strict — finds photographs that are extremely similar.
- Normal — Recommended — finds visually similar photographs, including repeated shots of the same subject or moment.
- Broad — finds a wider range of potentially similar photographs for review.
Photo Housekeeper groups similar photographs together in an Apple Photos review album. It never automatically deletes photographs.
RAW to JPEG Conversion
Choose a maximum JPEG size between 500 KB and 10 MB. The selected size is a maximum, not a target. If a high-quality JPEG naturally requires less space, Photo Housekeeper will not artificially increase its file size.
After conversion, Photo Housekeeper reports the estimated disk-space saving available if you choose to delete the reviewed RAW originals.
Deleting Photographs
Deleting an entire Photo Housekeeper album does not delete the photographs it contains.
Pressing ordinary Delete while viewing a photograph in an album normally removes that photograph from the album only.
To delete a photograph from the Apple Photos Library and reclaim storage, use Command–Delete or Apple Photos' Delete Photo(s) command.
Deleted photographs normally remain in Apple Photos' Recently Deleted album for about 30 days and can be recovered during that period unless permanently deleted sooner.
Licensing
A Photo Housekeeper license is a one-time purchase and may be activated on up to two Macs.
